The $9.36 mln contract is with Executive Technology Inc., a Phoenix-based computer services company. Only 63 deployed today. Will be used as e-readers to replace paper manuals and maps for pilots.

This contract is with the USAF Air Mobility Command, which flies cargo and fueling planes.

The 32 GB model, which costs $599, is being purchased for $520, or $79 off retail.

This contract was awarded despite the cancellation the previous week of 3,000 iPad deployment by a different group within the US Air Force.
